2K Sports has officially announced Major League Baseball 2K13. The franchise will return on March 5th for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and will once again be developed by Visual Concepts. 2K revealed that Tampa Bay Rays pitcher David Price will grace the cover, which you can see below:
MLB 2K13 will also mark the return of the Perfect Game Challenge, which offers $1 million for throwing a Perfect Game. 2K says this year’s challenge will introduce “a new contest format,” but details haven’t been announced just yet.
MLB 2K12 was thought to be the last of the series after 2K’s MLB licensing deal came to a close last year, but 2K announced today that it has reached a new agreement with the MLB. “We’d like to thank our league partners for their support in helping us reach an agreement to bring back MLB 2K,” said 2K Sports vice president of marketing Jason Argent. “We know fans are extremely passionate about the MLB 2K series and the Perfect Game Challenge.”
Last year’s Perfect Game Challenge saw hundreds of thousands of attempts, ultimately crowning 21-year-old Christopher Gilmore as the winner after an eight-person tournament in New York.
