The first official details were summarised by a Tomb Raider forum user who lifted the information from Official Xbox Magazine, with Team Deathmatch a battle between Lara’s pals and the vicious locals. Matches are best of three affairs with players alternating between the two sides.
Maps, apparently, aren’t too expansive but they are littered with environmental traps, such as lever-operates spikes. Take a wrong turn and you might find yourself slipping down a watery tunnel. Furthermore, expect climbable surfaces, destroyable bridges and low-tech weaponry such as Lara’s bow.
The second game type detailed is called ‘Rescue’, in which survivors must collect med-packs and deliver them to various destinations around the map. Meanwhile, the other team – the ‘scavengers’ – must reach a certain kill-count. In this mode, the ‘survivors’ have a bleed-out time that can be cut short by dealing a melee finisher.
A third mode is teased called ‘Cry for Help’, which is said to put a strong emphasis on discovery and collection. This certainly sounds more original and in keeping with theTomb Raider ethos.
In addition to the main modes, expect Tomb Raider multiplayer to be characterised by a deep roster of characters, various weapons and different load-outs, plus the accumulation of XP, which can be used to tweak stats and acquire more advanced characters. A typical load-out will comprise of a primary firearm/bow, a sidearm, grenade-like projectile, and climbing axe which doubles up as a melee weapon.
And Lara was nowhere to be seen in Tomb Raider mutliplayer.
